Bill Brown's photostream
|
I wrote this in a journal over 30 years ago. Little did I know what would unfold in the digital age we live in now.

I do not use any plug-ins or special software to create the designs. Each one is done manually by rotating, cropping, flipping, mirroring, and repeating the process. It usually takes from one to three hours to create each image. Yes, it is addicting!
Mar 15 07 - OK, I confess that lately I've been using GIMP with Mathmap to create some of the "Droste Effect" and spiral images. But the kaleidoscopes and mandalas are still done manually.

goodsardine says:
"He is the design master of mandalas and kaleidoscopes. And the hundreds he's created are as fascinating as a tray of jewels, They are more than beautiful, they are inviting and evocative--some enameled carnival-bright and whimsical, others in colors of the forest and the sea. They reference everything from delicate webs and moving pools to metal tools and machinery.
There are many reasons to study Mr Brown's designs. For me, the top two are: his artistry. which is stunning, and second to that, the homage he pays to just about every design in all of the history of art."16th July, 2006
