Happily Married, mid-fifties, three grown children. San Francisco Bay Area native.

I have always enjoyed road trips and photography, using a 35 mm Minolta for 30 years, compiling almost 3 feet of photoalbums in a cabinet, not to mention 15 carousels of slides. Finally got my Canon digital in June of 2006 and wonder why I waited so long. Digital is incredible. I'm relearning all the skills I need to know to take better pictures.

My personal interests led me to degrees in Physical Geography and Biology, with some Geology and Engineering. I've worked in Medical Device manufacturing for many years. I like the science, engineering and technology involved in this field.

I've found that whatever the season or however much rain we've had, there is someplace in California that will be spectacular under those conditions. In low water years, new potholes are exposed in rivers that were never accessable before and the water may be warmer for swimming; yet in another area the streams may be stagnant where they were normally swimmable. The challenge, and my passion, is to search out those special conditions unique at that time.

I have a special liking for the Yuba and North Fork American Rivers, and the Eastern Sierra. My first introduction to the Eastern Sierra was through a week-long Geography field trip in 1977. The trip included visits to several hot springs. I've been back every year since and still discover new things every time.
