in 2008 i quit my corporate webhead job to build my photographic portfolio. i've expanded upon my film photography roots and learned to use a digital camera. in 2009 i self published "frame work," a study of the structural grace and variety of electrical pylons (see it and help me pay for groceries by buying a copy here: www.blurb.com/user/store/amosfly).

i love, love, love to shoot live music. i love the challenge of the unpredictable conditions and subjects. i love the awesomeness of discovering new music and seeing artists all blissed out doing their thing. small venues and emerging or independent artists have an energy like nothing else (if you've ever boogalooed with the woggles or heard the natural buzz of a sold out crowd fall silent as everyone softly sings every word along with manchester orchestra, you know what i mean). i love being present for those moments, and it is my passion to translate those experiences and energies to photographs.

if i've shot your band and you'd like to use the photos (even if it's just to make a calendar for your mom) or if i haven't shot you and you'd like me to, send me a flickr mail. i am based in the raleigh-durham-chapel hill area, but i've shot in philly and memphis, too, so try me. especially if you're making some kind of lo-fi musical history. i find that hard to resist.

    Ann Marie Simard says:

""Only recently I met miss M. in flickr, already her brilliant stream seems so lively and familiar, full of life and light. Doing things just right, her way of seeing is unique, wise, sometimes humorous, and integral to itself. Visionary, walking the fine line uniting iconoclasm to classicism with a great sense of stability and balance, this stream is as beautiful as it is intelligent. Integrity and liveliness also characterize this bright person I am glad to recommend and from now on not a day passes by that I will pass go on this brilliant stream. Here's wishing a long life to your photography, and to life itself ; I feel honored, lucky and glad to be one of your contacts.""
