Flickr is the best thing I have found on the Internet for sharing information that I have passion for. I meet people here I find wonderfully interesting.

I live in Saline a small town in the State of Michigan (known as the Great Lake State. If you have any interest in geography you will understand that name.), It is in the United States of America.

I love History and Geography equally I guess. This is a “love” that is not normal for most people who live in the United States. I believe it is true that a majority of people in my county would have difficulty-finding France on a map, let alone a basic knowledge of its history.

History
I have a BA in Art History from the University of Michigan. I consider that a gift from God. There is no better way to understand history than through the art of a society, country or empire. Of course that is my opinion.

Geography
I cannot get enough of maps. Every map is interesting to me. I collect maps and have since I was kid.

Because of these passionate avocations: I may be a Dull Person in USA Society. I spend too much of my time in libraries, museums and on the Internet. But my life is very exciting when I pursue my interests.

Travel
My way of travel is not normal by USA tourist standards. I walk [hike, backpack, etc] and often travel alone to visit historic spots. Most Americans would not do that because it is too lonely, insecure, physically tiring and dull. I consider all that an asset. I do plan my travel carefully before I enter a country. Travel is important to me because you cannot understand the geography or history of a place on less you visit it in person.

Recently I have been to France, Japan, and Germany. One of the more exotic places I have been is Easter Island. When we were much younger my wife and I decided to go to as far away as possible to an interesting place and came to Easter Island.

I would like to visit Russia and China. I would love to go by train across Russia to Moscow and then take. "Moscow to Berlin Express." That may be my next travel goal but I am running out of time [age wise]
