I'm a chubby hard working grandma, called madre by the grandchildren, who lives in NorCal with hubby Leon, 4 dogs [our jasper still in our hearts], no cats now (four are buried up here), & 6 chickens. I garden, read, and work on improvements in the house. And I try to take photographs.

Which I find hard to do with the allure of Flickr and all my cruising about in photo streams. I'm paring down my contacts and my groups, so I can take time to really look and comment. Please don't feel offended if I don't reciprocate on making you a contact, I won't get upset if you don't. :-)
I don't expect reciprocal comments or faves on my work. If you want to look at my photo stream I'd be most pleased to have you, but I don't want anyone to feel obligated.

I'm old and I have much to learn.

"What a delightful surprise when I stumbled upon Susan’s photostream. Her still lifes are magical, moody, and perfect. She possesses a very dark humour which works rather well with my own, only she is more able to display hers. I strive for her darkness. :-) Her domestic scenes, as well, are magical, especially the photos of her loving bunchadogs. Her humour is boundless, as is her kindness. To say nothing of her great no-nonsense wisdom. She is brilliant. Susan has been a huge inspiration in my return to film with all it’s frustrations and all it’s rewards. I feel very fortunate to have met her and blessed to be able to call her friend.
    Thank you, Susan ! xox"

The hills are alive (taking time off......) says:

"Explorer, adventurer, master at getting under the skin of things....not an easy task with photography as your medium but she does it brilliantly. One of the most original artists on flickr, producing endless works of mystery and delight.

Love her writing as well as her pix. Writing on her own stream, writing on other people's - always with such intelligence and insight. The writing as well as the photographs is awesome..

Finally the groups...she even admins with extraordinary finesse. The groups she's involved with at flickr stand out and shine. Time and time again her her hard work with them blossoms, and they give huge pleasure to those of us that use them.

Thank you for all of this sweet Susan....."

"I really admire Susan's work for many more reasons that I could find appropriate adjectives for. Susan strives to push the envelope in ways most don't have the knowledge to do so. I appreciate the thought process and the endless time she commits to each work of art. If you asked Susan to pick her favourite piece she is the type of woman who would reply simply by stating that she could not pick one over the rest because they are all her children. Thank You Susan for being a quiet voice on Flickr.....truly an inspiration in my world."

"Susan has an incomparable ability to absorb and learn new skills and techniques. I always look forward to seeing where her latests explorations have taken her. She's in the midst of a metamorphosis. She's a woman to watch closely, because tomorrow there will be something entirely new to catch your eye and make you ponder. Don't take my word for it, have a stroll through her stream and you'll see what I mean. Beauty!"

"I *met* Susan on a basenji pixlist, when I finally had to ask “what is this Orton Imagery you keep mentioning?”. She explained, directed me to a couple tutorials, invited me to Flickr and changed my life!

Susan is a wonderful mentor and so inspiring. Her photo treatments are both bold and methodical – she has great vision and works hard to share that vision with us, just so. She is learning as fast as she can; she experiments and shares without fear.

Each of her sets is a slice of her life. Susan has taken us with her on the ride to town. We’ve looked down from the top of her stairs and enjoyed her glorious garden in every season. We can sit on her bench “out on the top knoll overlooking the river and the valley below” and share the amazing view from her property. We have met her grandkids, her husband and her dogs.

Her dogs…amazing pictures! Take a stroll through Susan’s bunchadogs sets. Meet Gracie with her quiet dignity and the exuberant Jasper. Take a moment to ponder with Schubert. Give Jones a rub on his freckle-belly. Sit in the sun with Quiz. I am surprised sometimes to recall that I have not actually met these pups in the fur. Through Susan’s pictures I have come to know her dogs and fallen in love with them.

Faults? She is excessively humble about her great talent. Have a look…"
