My inspiration is art therapy. I believe making art is an opportunity to express myself imaginatively, authentically and spontaneously to find personal fulfillment, emotional healing and transformation. My art is nonverbal and metaphorical, but it is my voice. My message is to communicate the story of my life through snippets, moments and mini narratives. At the earliest moments as a child, we are taught to dissimulate our thoughts, to be polite with people we dislike and to control our emotions. Models in fashion adverts are the ultimate in disguise and control. I find it therapeutic to graffiti those images – making them more imperfect…like me.

"Shellie is one of the most talented artists I've ever enountered. I have known her for years and years, and she never ceases to amaze me. She does not give herself NEARLY enough credit for being so amazing! A wonderful artist, person, and friend, I know the day will be soon when I am telling people "I knew her when..." before she was incredibly famous. Keep up the good work, Shells. You are a blessing to the creative world. - Liss"

"Miss Shellie and I invented the word 'righteous' together. I'll never forget the day (Que. dream sequence) It was the summer of 89' in Honduras. Miss Shellie and I were talking and "she was all" and "I was all" and then we said simultaneously, "word!, book club!" So we walked over to the local Book club office of Honduran Badger Appreciators but there was a sign on the door that said "We don't serve ninjas." So I was all, "Dang!, why they gotta be haten' on us ninjas like that?", so we left. Shellie was all, "Pegacorn."
    "Geeah", I said.
"Lets do this, you bring that nasty beard, I'll bring the fantasy yogurt and we'll show Honduras how we do!", she said.
And then...We committed an explosive hi-five and simultaneously said "Righteous!"

And there folks is how "righteous" is now apart of your vocabulary, thanks to this guy and this girl. Later that night we celebrated our awesomeness, shellie ate a magical nectarine and became president of society of chinese ribbon dancing and I had a total make-out sesh with the El Chupa Cabra.

Miss Shellie- we'll always have Paraguay"

"i've been really impressed with missShellie's work...it's a rarity that someone's art is so goddamn unique AND amazing.

not only that, but she takes the time to give the rest of us nice words.
her kindness disarms the jealousy i feel looking at her word ;), turning it into pure admiration."

" I was already amazed at Shellie's art before I saw the rest of her portfolio... then I was just floored... This girl is one hell of an artist with what looks like a genuinely innate talent and a huge heart... Mark my words: she will not only go places... she'll inspire you and be your friend."

"Even though I should be used to the creative and wonderful works that she produces, I find myself constantly grinning when a new piece is uploaded.

Shellie has an unfair amount of talent and it blows my mind that she could manage to create such a beautiful pictures time and again.

She even managed to create something based on clowns that didn't make me nervous and that's saying a lot because clowns freak me out.

So much talent and there is so much emotion in her work. It's almost as if someone stuck a microphone in her brain and these are her thoughts manifesting themselves as pictures.

    Wonderful work!"
