My name is Erik. I've been capturing frames of the world around me for a long as I can remember. In 2005 I began sharing them here.

In late 2008 I was bitten by the rock photography bug. I'm not sure when it started, honestly. It could've been the VHS or Beta gig with Maps of Norway opening - one of the first shows I had seen in years - or it could've been the hours spent in a cold Northeast Minneapolis basement hanging with musical friends. Either way, it's become what I do.

For the last few years I've thoroughly enjoyed geotagging my photos, creating a trail of breadcrumbs to supplement my terrible memory. The geotags are available for anyone to view.

My most interesting photos, according to Flickr's unpredictable algorithms: www.flickriver.com/photos/560/popular-interesting/.

The path less traveled, photographically.

Geek is life.

Flickr is not your free stock photo archive. If you make a profit off of the creative work you publish and don't compensate the creator of that work, you're being unprofessional at best, unethical at worst. "Crowdsourcing" does not mean failing to compensate creators for their hard-won skill.

Please note that all of my images (unless specified differently on the image page) are copyrighted. While I'm a strong believer in Creative Commons and free culture I'm strangely protective of my work, a paradox that was discovered long ago when my work was CC licensed.

That said, if you'd like to use my photos for anything please let me know via emai, Flickrmail or even photo comments. Admittedly the reason I don't have everything CC-licensed has to do with the fact that people had taken it as a license to just "grab and go" without even telling me where it'll end up. At the very least I want to see what becomes of my progeny. :)

Please note, if you intend on using an image of mine in a publication that contains advertisements, "full photo credit" will not be an acceptable barter for an image license. If you have no budget for creative content, I understand, but the blood, sweat and tears I (and other photographers) pour into our craft deserves consideration. "Full photo credit" is a bare minimum and, doesn't confer any sort of value. Helping us pay our bills will.

"Erik enables us lazy, old (meaning I don't drink anymore because I hate feeling sluggish at yoga class) Minneapolis folk to stay home. His photos capture the essence of music in the clubs. All the sweat. The loud. The haze. The fun. I assume he'd not drinking beer while carrying all his gear. Thanks Erik you're a true sacrificing artist."
