"Many of thepaisleycravat's photos seem to me like he's managed to squeeze a full size panavision movie camera into the body of whatever still camera he has hanging round his neck. It's not just the format and framing but the mood he manages to convey so successfully.

He's much more than a one trick pony though. He has the enviable talent of being able to extract the essence from whatever catches his eye and making it timeless with his special brew of processing magic.

There's no doubt in my mind that Phil's a hunter. I reckon he's also pretty good in the kitchen."

    Jack Picknell says:

"Phil's photography never ceases to amaze me, he sees opportunities everywhere. The mundane for most of us, is the blank canvas for Phil. Out of nothing in particular, he has the ability to produce something that, not only looks good, but makes you think!

Over the past year Phil has really stamped a style on his work, you can look at a shot and recognise it as a Paisley. This is some achievement in such a short time, one which I'm sure many of us aspire to, I know I do.

Phil has been a source of encouragement to many of us and I thank him for introducing me to Flickr. I consider both Phil and Lisa as good friends, who I would not have met if it were not for photography. However, I do think they have an unfair advantage over the rest of us with their two live-in, overly photogenic, models!"

"In the words of the man himself ( left by him on a picture of mine ) "buggering hell, that's fantastic " is the most common thought I have when looking at his pictures.

His pictures show you that its ok to read the guides, then go out and break every rule anyhow - and his results are often breathtaking , challenging and have that "wow" factor thats hard to explain but clearly there in spades .

Truly inspirational in approach and a true gent in person - its a pleasure to share the Medway Towns through his unique eyes.

he still has a scary clown thing as his icon tho - shudder !"

    Conundrum37 says:

"The Paisley Cravat has a fresh, quirky approach to photography. He takes some brilliant candid shots, without appearing to be intrusive. He sees pictorial possibilities where others might pass by, and his recent exhibition ‘21st Century Cave Painting in Medway’ is full of humour, observation, and a clear love of his environment. His style is his own, with a great instinct for natural composition. He doesn’t shrink from the ugly, but points it up well so no comment is necessary. This is a very talented guy, he’s a musician as well as photographer, and his love of music comes through in his photo stream- though he tells me his singing voice is less gravelly since he gave up smoking. All in all, he’s a lovely bloke, and a fine photographic artist."
