I am still relatively new to quilting, having started in March 2010, but I have sewn and knit all my life. I also do other fibre arts (weave, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch).

I am still finding out what I want to do with quilting. I am drawn to the improv modern quilts with lots of neutrals and but so far I have found myself spending as much time making traditional blocks and learning techniques. I also really enjoy the on-line quilting community and love being in quilt alongs and bees. Now I am hoping to do swaps too.

I love modern fabrics but again my taste is not settled. I am drawn to Laura Gunn, Echino, Heather Ross, Kaffe Fassett and all of the similar Westminister Fabrics crazy colour crowd of designers, Monaluna, Tula Pink, Daisy Janie, Anna Maria Horner, and Amy Butler (and many others like them). However, I also like many other fabrics and don't need a designer name attached. I also really like solids in a quilt, and would love a quilt with only solids as well.

I like bright colours, but also find myself in love with quilts which are mostly a play on neutrals. I don't think there is a colour I don't like but lately seem drawn to pink/red/orange, or blue/lime green, and grey of all shades as a neutral as well as white. Although I can see the beauty in traditional fabrics and historic fabrics, and more historic muted colour combinations, they are not for me, at least right now.

I love improv blocks, and blocks that are inspired by modern art. I am also finding out that I love traditional blocks pieced with modern fabrics. Within more traditional blocks, I love stars of all kinds, shoo-fly variations, log cabins, simple nine patches, the circle of geese block, any circle block variations, especially variations on Mariner's compass blocks, and very geometric patterns including celtic knots and the like. I am less keen on traditional baskets or trees or that sort of thing, but improve blocks and paper pieced blocks of specific things can make me very excited.

Having said all that, I daily see new things that I think are wonderful too. On that, my partners in any swap should understand that I do love to see new things and encourage others in their work, so please don't understand my enthusiasm for one item as less interest in the one they are making. I am very excited to receive most anything a swap partner would take the time to make for me.
