"Destiny or not, this trip had some meaning to it, I have learned more about myself and other people. When I came into this trip alone, I hoped to find adventure and other selfish desires. I had visited many long time friends in different countries and still I thought that this was the only form of traveling.

I had to learn how to share my life with complete strangers in a hostel. Meeting new strangers and making friends were not easy for me, this type of traveling was very new, and at times I was not too sure if I could trust anyone else; all I had was my life and my backpack.

This experience has changed my concept of traveling. As for the others in the group, I was not sure at first if this would last this long without any problems, I want to thank you, my friends for coming along on this journey and for being good friends. I will never forget any of you."-

It is doubly disparaging for American travelers when they return from their travels. Friends and co-workers alike react as though they've been reflexively programmed. No doubt, the good friends will relate and be supportive, however the rest will be jealous, aloof, even disdainful. To travel outside of this land is threatening--an affront to our very presumption that it doesn't get any better than this. If you negate that, you're met with exhortations like: "Okay, that was all good and fine, but now it's time to get back to reality"; or "You've gotten over that juvenile yearning. Now it's time to act your age, settle down (and get yourself firmly into debt)".

I'm here to say, fuck all that. I've never felt freer than I did while traveling. You make the rules: you decide where to go and when; who to associate yourself with; where you want to sleep for the night. Presuming one has the financial resources to get to a place, it's quite easy to stay. Hostels and kitchens are constantly looking for vagabond hands to fill in temporarily."

"Fear, I believe is the largest obstacle in life to overcome and many people don't want fear in their lives. Many choose the safe path in life....The Future is bright my friend and we have lived good lives so far and I wouldn't want it any other way

"Getting back to America: we are constantly inundated with misinformation and false imagery of "them", or the world around us. This effectively deters us from ever harboring the desire or curiosity to leave. After all, why would we want to leave when we live in the "best damn country in the world"? Well, those who leave quickly discover that we do not in fact live in the best country in the world and to claim so is tantamount to fascist nationalism (observe Mussolini's jingoistic watchwords). Not that anyone should be ashamed or embarrassed to be American; on the contrary, our citizenship should be embraced. Other countries see U.S. travelers as open-minded and cultured. I'm merely saying that other countries offer things which are missing here, and vice versa. "


For nearly a decade, we've traveled/lived around the United States, Europe, South America and North Africa. We continue to search for the meaning of life and adventure, by moving forward on this most amazing journey/path of enlightenment.

With only a few hours to sleep, somehow we are able to take trips, with no coffee and barely five minutes to catch connecting trains. To simply put into a name, We are La Legione di Resistenza!



People often ask how do we do it? Simply, sleeping at cheap hostels, eating baguettes and sipping on carton boxes of wine, this must have some meaning in life.....
