"This curious world which we inhabit is more wonderful than it is convenient; more beautiful than it is useful; it is more to be admired and enjoyed than used."
Thoreau, 1837

"The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still truly adjusted to each other, who has retained the spirit of infancy even into the era of manhood."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am a microscopist by trade. My job consists of isolating foreign material such as insects from food. I love the microscope but with it I cannot view living creatures. I can with macro lenses. I have always been an insect collector but now prefer photography over collecting unless for scientific purposes. I am a nature lover and appreciate what we don't have much of where I live. Open space and wild creatures. You can still find them if you know where and what to look for. Right now a red-tailed hawk swooped up and landed on top of one of the security camera poles behind the building where I work. Photography is my way of expressing my love of nature.
