dbmboise - Shanghai through my eyes' photostream  

I am originally from Rugby, England the birthplace of Rugby football , not to be confused with American football. I lived for almost 17 years in the U.S.A, in places such as; Santa Clara, San Jose, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and most recently Boise Idaho.

My current location - Shanghai China 2006 - present.

In 2006 I left America and moved to Shanghai China where I married my wife Amy who although living in Shanghai is originally from Inner Mongolia, China.

My wife and I would also be happy to show you around Shanghai and the local area while your here. Having lived here for 5 years myself and my wife of course is Chinese, so we know the area very well and can show you some great photography places you might not find by yourself. I started acting at the age of 13 and in the past was extremely involved with "Rugby Theater Society or RTS" in the U.K. In the U.S I continued to pursue my day job, an I.T career (approximately 22 years) but on the weekends and in the evenings I co-owned two entertainment companies.

"Death By Murder"; was a theater company which performed interactive murder mysteries, while “DBMEvents” offered team building exercises and interactive games such as “Shockwave” our version of the hugely popular NBC series “Fear Factor”.

Now in Shanghai I work part time as an actor, director and theatre technician and often work in movies, TV dramas, commercials and documentaries as well as some voice over work..



In the last few years I have been focusing more on another passion and trying to produce some entertaining and thought provoking images while continuing to learn more about the art everyday. Since my arrival in Shanghai I have tried to document the city and my travels in China. This is an enormous country with so much incredible beauty and culture that the task will no doubt keep me busy for eternity. The majority of images I post will I hope relay to you something of the Shanghai I have come to love. At times it can be a cacophony of noise, traffic and people, while also one of the most amazing and exhilarating cities I have ever visited.

These days many of my images are candid street portraits, it's not that I don't love nature, it's more a fact of living in a city which is so full of incredible faces I just can't get enough of them.

I'd like to thank CNN's Kristie Lou Stout who recently used my Pajama images set in an article she wrote about Shanghai's attempt to rid the city streets of locals wearing pajamas prior to the World Expo http://www.boingboing.net/2010/02/05/shanghais-crackdown.html . As a result I had my highest ever view count in one day of over 15,000 views. Certainly a record for my little old photostream.



As my two previous photo buddies have now returned to their native SA I'm now looking for new "photowalk" buddies to join me on Sundays or Mondays as I continue to wander the streets of Shanghai, so if anyone who reads this is located in Shanghai and is free on either of those two days, please drop me a line via Flickr mail if your interested.
