Ronda International Festival, Political Cinema for the Twenty-First Century , was conceived in order to give a twist to cinema and politics, and to be an event aimed primarily at a young public, who are more adept at handling the new forms, codes and references used to decribe the real changes in the language and obligations of the citizens of this century.

In this new festival our first major task is to encourage a lively three-way dialogue between the filmmakers, who will attend with their films, politicians open to debate and a public that will be mostly made up of university students invited to the festival.

Ken Loach , the great English director who brought us 'Kes', 'Family Life', 'Land and Freedom' 'The wind that shakes the barley' 'Looking for Eric' and dozens of other unforgettable films, will attend Ronda to collect the Goyesca of Honour as a tribute from the festival and to present his new film 'Route Irish'.

El Festival internacional de Ronda, Cine Político para el Siglo XXI , nace con la pretensión de darle una vuelta de tuerca al cine y la política, de ser una cita dirigida sobre todo a un público joven, el que maneja con más soltura las nuevas formas, los códigos y referencias que van marcando el cambio real de siglo en el lenguaje y el compromiso del ciudadano.

En este nuevo festival nos fijamos como objetivo prioritario propiciar un intenso diálogo a tres bandas, entre los cineastas, que acudirán con sus películas, políticos abiertos al debate y un público que tendrá como componentes fundamentales a estudiantes universitarios invitados por el festival.

Ken Loach, el gran director inglés de “Kes”, “Family Life”, “Tierra y libertad”, “El viento que agita la cebada”, “Buscando a Eric” y decenas de títulos inolvidables, acudirá a Ronda para recibir la primera Goyesca de Honor como homenaje del festival y presentar su nueva película, “Route Irish”.
