"We" is my wife and I. I'm digital and she's analogue; She's American and I'm English; I say 'Tormato' and she says 'Tomayta' - you get the general idea?

We've only been married a short time and met 'across the pond' four years ago. We both like photography and used to have a web site at www.tintrax.co.uk/ to display our wares. Unfortunately, some opportunist spammer decided to pepper our site with banal and pointless messages promoting gambling and quoting religion - go figure!!

Rather than make repairs, we've abandoned the original site and set up here. It's likely we will stay, as we like it here!

I grew up with a father who loved taking photographs so from an early age, it was the most natural thing for me to start doing the same. I first used a Box Brownie camera that belonged to my father. I was around 9 at the time. I then got my first camera when I was 14 - a Kodak Instamatic - which I still own, but it sits in a box somewhere. I continued to use the Kodak until I got a Pentax P30 in 1982, which I'm still using to this day.

I was so interested in photography that I made a pinhole camera using a shoebox for a science project when I was 14. After taking the pictures I proceeded to develop them. I had to find a room in the house that was dark enough. It seemed that the bathroom was the only place - I remember the tubs of developing solution were in the bathtub. I do recall I got a A for my efforts and throughly enjoyed the project.

I have always loved to travel and many times have had this awareness of how photos capture time. In addition to the places I have visited, I've taken many photos of my children and family throughout my life, filling some 50+ photo albums.

Photography is a hobby with endless possibilities and no two people see the same things so what one captures is unique.

I began using a Kodak Duoflex II at age 9 which my mother bought for me. Like Debbie, I've moved through a Kodak Instamatic and a Pentax Spotmatic. However, photography didn't really grab me as such until I started processing my own pictures. The magic for me was watching the picture appear right before my eyes on paper in the devloping tray.

For years I hardly touched a camera, save the odd family shot, but the advent of digital photography inspired me anew. The magic is still there, but with abundance. The instant gratification of seeing the pictures played back is wonderful. That and not being limited to a mere 36 exposures.Although I do miss the level of creativity that film and a traditional SLR gives you.

I'd really like to justify a big spend on a digital SLR to replace my modest equipment, but recent upheavals in my personal life have prevented me. But I'm looking forward to a rosier future with a new wife and a new camera :-)
