I am attracted to natural arrangements that effuse joy, peace, concord, and grace. Often my eye notices these qualities in confluences: the places where two (or more) effects overlap (eg. Where a tree, its reflection in water, the reflection of clouds on that water, and the bottom-world, under the water, are all visible and at play). Such scenes are highly suggestive to the imagination without being fully removed from the prosaic reality to which we are accustomed. I focus on the site of intermingling. Often this makes the image abstract. These images are not manipulated, with two exceptions: occasional, minor cropping and the touch up of the red dot that my camera puts on every picture.

Another related interest is in scenes that reflect subconscious forces and the sorts of impressions that are stored at that level of being. Images that evoke such interior places are beautiful in another way. While not always obviously uplifting and gorgeous (they are often disturbing and possibly even disgusting), this kind of image is potentially cathartic. I have made two “image worlds”, (Quicktime slideshows, one had a musical score as well), using such images, as the flow created helps to loosen the analytical mind’s hold.
