"However the city may really be, beneath this thick coating of signs, whatever it may contain or conceal, you leave Tamara without having discovered it."
Italo Calvino, “Invisible Cities”, 1972

When I move through the constructed sites constituting the space around me I am by every step I am taking walking through my past and my identity. How and why the city strategically has been planned to look the way it looks, who lives where and how, what rules and codes that are in place and what they communicate to the inhabitants and visitors are all questions dealing with something less tangible than the actual, physical city.
