I've been involved in photography off and on over the last 30 years thanks to the influence and inspiration of my father. My love for taking pictures was rekindled a few years ago with the purchase of my first SLR digital camera. The instant feedback digital photography gives me and the control I have over my own editing has made the process of creating my own images even more exciting.
For the past 20 years I have lived in a beautiful area called Muskoka where I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and enjoy activities such as canoeing, hiking, cycling, and cross country skiing. Muskoka is about 2hrs. drive north of Toronto, Canada, and is a region with a lot of forested area and is scattered with many lakes.
Transforming the beauty of my environment into photographic images is what fuels my passion for photography. Being active in the outdoors allows me to observe the various and fascinating dimensions of our natural world and inspires me to seek out unique photo opportunities. Sometimes my photos are a result of careful planning. Other times I rely on what some call the “Serendipity Factor” where I quickly try to capture a moment that has unexpectedly presented itself. Although a lot of my photography involves nature, I also enjoy the challenge of photographing people, architecture, and still life.
