I started taking almost daily photos in October, 2006. l usually take nature shots--close-ups of plants and animals or views of the sky. The shots I take are, frequently, scenes I would have, in the past, pointed out to a companion. The joy is that, now, I can keep those views & share them with a broader community! My photos are usually not altered, except by cropping & slight balance adjustments. Most of my photos have an 800 x 600 ratio, to make them convenient to use as computer wallpaper. I love the contact that flickr gives me with people around the world & the opportunity to see the great art photos they produce! If you notice similaries between my photostream and cyberastrofolkie's, it's because we, sometimes, go on photo jaunts together.

From October, 2006 through January, 2009,the camera I used was an Olympus C-765 Ultra Zoom--a light-weight point & shoot digital camera with 4 mp & 10X zoom. At the beginning of May, 2007, I started using the macro setting on my camera. This opened a whole new world of beauty to me. At the end of January, 2009, I purchased an Olympus SP-570 UZ--a more powerful point & shoot with 10 mp & 20X zoom. Unfortunately, I didn't find it to be a helpful change for me. Instead, I opted to buy a 1.7x teleconversion lens for my original camera, which gives me a bit more "reach." I find that I am more interested in making the most of the composition & art aspect of my shots, rather than seeing how closely I can image my subject. In September, 2011, I took early retirement from education & am spending more time on photography. There has been some interest in my photography--website, magazine, book, & corporate. It's satisfying to realize that others enjoy what I do. I present my photos under the name B. Bowen Carr Images, in honor of my dad.
