HISTORY
Once upon a time…
Kinki, an initiative of Michael Dingarten, was founded in 1984 (how time flies…) in Eindhoven. It was a time of punk with controversial fashion and music, and an urgent need for hairdressers who understood the needs of the street. This is why Kinki happily and blatantly ignored the prevalent hair fashion – to be creative and break the mould. Always looking for the best styles, we did what we wanted. What we liked. What was ‘not done’. With an interior design that looked absolutely nothing like a typical hairdressing salon: a lot of colour and, inspired by the artist Christo, a lot of wrapped items, even including our logo. The start of an awesome time of healthy mischief and veeeery nice hair. At last!
ABOUT
And now…
In essence, nothing has changed! We just expanded a lot as a group, with more devoted hairdressers who always put their heart and soul into this fantastic profession. Quality is still extremely important, and we work from a sound technical basis from which to launch our original ideas. We were long considered the enfant terrible of the hairdressing sector, but fortunately many people now know that we honestly know what we are doing, not just ‘randomly cutting and dyeing everything green, yellow and blue’.
All that enthusiasm, more than 40 shops, our own training and countless shows at home and abroad, all this makes for major encouragement to take it further. Literally.
What do we do?
Easy: everything. As a creative group, we find inspiration anywhere we can. We are always thinking of hair, looking for new colours, new styles and new techniques. All this makes its way to the Kinki salons, but most of all it forms the basis of the success of our Creative Team. These Kinki superstars, ambassadors of L’Oréal Professionnel, give shows and demonstrations at home and abroad. Spectacular shows where the crowds go wild. What is more, Kinki is at the forefront of new developments for L’Oréal Professionnel in Paris and shares its vision for further improving top-range products. What we do keeps us on our toes.
Kinki will continue as a group of eager hairdressers. Will keep growing, as long as this feels right in terms of our creativity, and will keep working with the smartest heads we can find. Cutting. Colouring. Cracking!
