E’ un’iperbole in forma di paradosso, ed infatti il suo nome in greco antico indica una “cosa impossibile”:

es: Non lo dimenticherò mai, campassi mille anni!

L’adynaton può anche essere una figura di perifrasi usata per esprimere idee di assolutezza come mai o sempre:

es: E’ più facile che un cammello passi per la cruna di un ago, che un ricco entri nel regno dei cieli. (Vangelo di Matteo, 19, 24).

Adynaton

Adynaton (from Greek: a-: without, and dynasthai: to be possible) is a figure of speech in the form of hyperbole taken to such extreme lengths as to suggest a complete impossibility.
