Hello, I'm Colin. I'm male and given. Age? Well, let's just say I'm a "jeune retraité" (sounds so much better in French). And if you don't understand French, better still!

How can I best describe myself. Made in England with French connections (wife) and a dash of Irish (blood that is!).

I have been living in France for the last thirty five years, twenty five in Paris and ten in a small seaside town in the south west of France.

I have always been interested in painting and in the distant past when I was young and fit I did quite a bit of scuba diving. And when I was too old for that I took up fossil hunting.

Now alas I'm reduced to walking the dogs, computer keyboard finger exercises and camera-button press-downs! My favourite TV programme is Télématin which is a French breakfast TV programme you can watch while you're still asleep!

However, I have recently discovered the fascinating world of insects. Down on my hands and knees studying at close-range the antics of these little creatures I sometimes feel I'm prying like a little girl peeping through the window of her doll's house.

Enough of this sentimentality! ;-)

I'm a newcomer to Flickr and to photography for that matter. My experience is therefore very limited as is my equipment (batteries being the only accessories I have for my little pocket camera).

Actually, I don't really know what I'm doing here lost in a forest of artists and photographic heavyweights. My only aspirations are to try and bring a touch of light-heartedness into an otherwise serious world.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those very talented people who, with their generous comments, have encouraged me to stay on a little longer (if that's alright with Flickr!). Hope to see you all soon.

This is me in the good old days. I included this shot to illustrate that I was once young and fit! Incidentally, I'm the one standing up! The picture was taken during a scientific expedition off the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, England in 1966 only days before England won the world cup! And that last comment is to show that even in exile one can still be patriotic!

Oh dear! It is rather long isn't it? It's quite amazing, don't you think, just how much you can squeeze into these little boxes!

    A little more than six years ago, I saw a delightful gentleman turning up at my stream , so wonderfully funny, enthusiastic and generous that I did not leave him any more since. If you know Colin a little, you will admit with me that " to try him is to adopt him " without reserve !
    As " older friend " and founder of your fan club, I want to pay tribute in your kindness, in your wonderful sense of humor... so British ;-) in your tactfulness, in your faithfulness and in your amusing comments !

    No Photoshop with a trowel nor hellish processing here, just beautiful simple photos that tell your wonders, your passion for insects, for your dogs, your love of nature, your affection for yours... yes, very simple, but very beautiful stories that you present us with a lot of sensibility and modesty.
    Thank you for being such a wonderful friend my Colin, and do not forget that a delicious Pomerol has to be shared ! It's waiting for you ;-)
