All men will alike, all are alike; he that feeleth otherwise goeth voluntarily to a madhouse...

'Once all the world was mad', say these refined ones, and they blink. They are clever and know all that hath come to pass, so that there is no end of mockery.

We have invented happiness, say the last men, and they blink.
(Nietzsche, Zarathustra)

Writer. Contributor/co-editor to the New Vulgate digital journal. And somehow I also got myself in the position of trying to force more visual information down the gullet of an already image-glutted world. I'm not visually oriented enough to be that good at it. But photography beyond its aesthetic properties is also a means to differentiate the static from the fluid. By which I mean that any photograph has arguably more power as a temporal souvenir than as an aesthetic object.

I grew up and still reside in the Los Feliz-Atwater-Hollywood, Burbank-Glendale nexus of Los Angeles, ie. the area centered by Griffith Park. My photos are mainly document of that area and L.A. in general. All that stuff is geotagged, so you can best explore this photostream through the map.

I record my exposure settings for each shot as best as I can. Exposures settings are determined alternately by my camera's TTL meter, my sense of the light, and the exposure value system as described on the ultimate exposure computer webpage.

I began developing my own b&w film in October 2008. The sequential roll numbers denote films processed at home.

My best shots are neither here nor there.

Personal objective: to develop skills at documentarian black and white still film shooting and developing. The greatest thrill is taking part in chemical-based technologies and processes that are over a century old, manipulating the same materials that an Ansel Adams did in the early 20th century.

I hope you get a kick or a laugh out of something here.
