Born and raised in metro Detroit until third grade, my world came to a crumbling end (or so I thought) when my dad was transferred to Indiana. Being a product of "The Wonder Years" suburban life, it was pure culture shock for me.

However, the three best things that happened to me in my formative years in South Bend. 1. I was one of the first girls in Indiana to play Little League Baseball after Title IX; 2. I auditioned for and was selected to sing with The Carpenters during a concert performance at Notre Dame and; 3. I stumbled into photography while attending high school. I had the greatest (photography) teacher ever at James Whitcomb Riley High School, Todd Hoover.

My family finally moved back to metro Detroit in '79--the later part of my junior year in HS--only to find that the HS photo lab was a joke. I was disillusioned and discontinued my formal photographic studies.

I worked FT after HS at various office jobs. I got married, had kids a little later and traveled whenever I could. On trips to Europe, I'd personally study how people lived, how differently they lived, and all areas of their world which were filled with design. It was and still is intriguing to me.

It wasn't until my late 30's that I realized all of my myriad interests (IKEA, cars, architecture, travel) began to clearly define the one common factor among them: design. I have no idea if I ever would have stumbled onto graphic design in college.

Stumbling upon flickr was a God-send. I had longed to seek inspiration from others. I revel in the creativity provided here. And as an added bonus, I get to share my photos with family and friends.

Hubby Greg, sons Kyle (21) and Ian (17) and daughter Molly (15) are my frequent subjects, in addition to my nieces, Mädchen and Eva.
