I am a freelance photo-journalist, an author, a PR professional and a media consultant. I am very involved in disaster response, relief and long-term recovery. I recently spent 10 days in Hait as a photographer with Acts World Relief serving at Operation Hope in the town of Carrefour located on the southern side of Port au Prince. In FRebruary 2010, I formed an agency called Disaster Media Network to help link journalists, students and other short term mission volunteers with faith-based organizations and others responding to disasters. Our current focus is on Haiti disaster relief and long term rebuilding. My hope is to help keep the story alive with the realization that the disaster is never the main story. The story is what God does in the midst and aftermath of a disaster, how the victims cope and what is needed to help those affected by disasters to get needed help and to reclaim hope.
My goal is to use my journalism, networking and PR skills to help keep these stories alive; to broker information; to raise ongoing support; to recruit volunteers and to organize short term mission trips to assist those who are responding to disasters.
It is my greatest desire to do this kind of work in Haiti and anywhere a disaster may strike.
