ST PETERS NEIGHBOURHOOD MONITORING of St Peters, Highfields, Leicester is a resident run local group who use digital and social media to engage local service providers such as the local authority (Leicester City Council) and Leicestershire Police to listen to provide better services.

St Peters NM originally started in December 2006 as St Peters Neighbourhood Management Board with its website even then at the current web address of www.stpetersnm.com .

We established a reputation for no nonsense and straightforward enagement on local issues that principally effected the appearance of our Leicester neighbourhood but also other issues that effected the prosperity, and health of the local community.

In March 2008 Leicester City Council chose to close down St Peters NM as neighbourhood management was not the Labour lead councils preferred model for enaging the local community.

It was very much felt that LCC did not like the strength of criticism on the website and hoped that by closing the board down they could close down the website.

This has never happened and in fact stpetersnm.com has developed into an even greater website with high res photography and HD video showing local issues such as rubblish bins overflowing, littering and parking as well as more positive articles.

We also have a youtube channel at youtube.com/stpetersnm and make extensive use of other social media such as twitter.
