I have been taking photos since 2001. I started with a 35mm camera, taking photographs of historical sites that I had developed an interest in. I loaded them onto my computer and started my website, UndergroundKent. It wasn’t very long before I moved onto digital photography, often revisiting places I had already been to so that I could get a better quality photograph. Most of these sites were underground, and this presented me with a lot of challenges with regards to lighting and exposure times to get the right photo.

As my interest in historical sites continued, I started to travel further to see new sites, always taking my camera with me. It was on such a trip to the sea forts in the Thames Estuary that I took the picture that started a turn from my photographs going from purely to show where I had been to a more artistic view. It was taken as I sat in a small boat approaching the forts and showed three of the towers and in the background, dwarfed by these towers was a cargo ship. I was really pleased with the sense of perspective on this photo and soon after this I began to start taking photographs of scenic views, sunsets and panoramas to develop this new interest. Over the past few years I have continued with this new approach and have also started to process my images to give a final picture.
