The Spirit of the World's photostream  

Yes, I live in America, but that has not always been the case. I also have lived in Cascais, Portugal and Bangkok, Thailand. One year was spent in Vietnam during a war.

It seems as though my heart and my mind are always somewhere else. When I see a photo of a place that has been my home, I get homesick and nostalgic. That happens a lot on Flickr.

My mind is in Asia now, my heart in the Middle East, and my soul in Africa.


The following are my thoughts on travels:

We travel to see faraway vistas, mountains and beaches.

We encounter new dress and new animals. We share new customs and smiles. We hear exotic music and savour strange and wonderful food.

When we travel, we may discover who we are. We may face our true character and feel our real courage.

If we are fortunate, we discover the sameness that encompasses all of our lives, no matter how far we have travelled.

And in the end, the few and only a few, find the ultimate gift of travel : new friendships formed half a world away that transend all languages and religions.


I am relatively new to photography and do edit my pictures somewhat, but only with iphoto and on Flickr. What my camera saw is what you see!
