Born in Ipswich - living in London

I've had a Flickr account on and off now for about 7 years. Recently I purged my account and decided to start all over again. I've become much more interested in not only capturing the world around me but also trying to find out more about what I'm actually photographing. This is especially true for my cemetery work.

London Necropolis will be up and running in the new year - I'm currently uploading a lot of cemetery photographs and you will hopefully notice that there are a lot more sets. I'm trying to look for symbolism, epitaphs, unusual finds and typography to do with cemeteries. I hope you find this useful. I'm also looking for any other help in categorising some of the architectural influences if anyone can advise?

So for a while this Flickr account is being rebuilt.

As are my websites - I'll link to them once they are finished!

It's going to be a long old haul but hopefully some of you will stay with me!

"A genius who doesn't just take photos. There's a lot more that goes into her work so that it just cannot be bettered, until it is perfect. Her work really does justice to her subject."

    Phil Bradley says:

"To say that Polly is a photographer is to say that St Paul's Cathedral is a church, or that Everest is quite large. Which is to say that it's a factually accurate statement wholly missing the point. Polly photographs things from angles you or I would never think of, and she creates not just a photograph, but a story, a reflective moment in time, a piece of very satisfying art.

Her work is always interesting, different and worth taking time to look at. Although I've never met her, I like to feel that I 'know' her through her work, and the person that consistently shines through is a kind, thoughtful person. Flickr would be worse off without her."

    Baron von Beerfest says:

"What to say about The Polstar*? Apparently she will have the chance to review this before it is published so don't bother saying anything rude or nasty. Nah, I don't think I possibly could.

Well, when she is not scaring me with creepy dolls, The Polstar* stuns me with beautiful images. From her evocative images of cemeteries [is there a London cemetery she hasn't photographed yet?], to her attempts at getting into the postcard and calendar business with her amazingly beautiful Santorini pictures, and her recent fabulous work with the Dresden Dolls, The Polstar* has shown considerable talent and skills which one can only expect to better with time. It is always a great pleasure to view her work. Exponential growth can be expected. Get your Polstar* stock now before she is famous!"

"Well, we'll just have to replace the missing testemonial as well.

Polstar's photos are often dark, always beautiful, and she spends as much time as I do in graveyards getting terrific shots (and probably a few odd looks from the general public). Very glad she's one of my flickr friends, and I look forward to seeing more of her stuff in the future!"
