What is a zine?

Zine is an abbreviation of the word magazine; pronounced "zeen". A small circulation publication of original or appropriated texts and images.


Where can I read Sandwich?

Sandwich is an E-Zine. Available for viewing on our website, on flickr.com, or for PDF download.


What will I find in Sandwich?

MP3s, recipes, movies, drawings, puns, polls, stories, poetry, opinions, sketches, articles, advice, comics, paintings...


When do new issues come out?

Issues have been released bi-monthly (that's the 'every two months' bi-monthly) since March 2009.


Who are the contributors?

Everybody! Anybody! We're not picky. Currently, we are a collective of over 40 artists. Several of our contributors work as professional artists, musicians, or filmmakers, but most do not. Our age range is widespread. Most of our artists are 'locals' from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - but we have contributors from all over the USA and a few internationals.


How can I submit my own work to 'Sandwich'?

Send us an e-mail or a message using the contact form at the bottom of the page or the form on the 'Contact Us' page.
Here's what we'll need from you when submitting your art work:

* A signed copy of the Informative Confirmation Form
* Your submission in 2 formats (8.5"x11" 300dpi verion and 8.5"x11" 72dpi version needed)
* A photo (190x190 72dpi)
* A short bio
* Your favorite sandwich
* Your birthday


When are submissions due?

Submission due dates are located on the calendar page. The general rule is, two Saturday's before the end of every other month. (Ya, we're confused too, just check out the calendar page.) Late submissions are NOT accepted!


Can I get fries with that?

Absolutely not! do we look like we're running a restaurant here?


Do the 'Sandwich' based puns and cliches ever stop?

No, no they do not.



Our Mission Statement

We are people with ideas and emotions to express. We are individuals with different needs and wants that cannot be satisfied by standardized objects of mass culture. The views expressed in this publication do not necessarily reflect the views of the overall zine or the views of all the zine contributors. We are different from each other, enough so that we may even disagree; however, we are similar enough that we can try to understand each other’s beliefs. We are collaborative in our drive towards dissemination of independent, alternative ideas. We want to tell you our ideas and show you our art. This is our version of a magazine publication. We want something accessible to as many people as possible. We want something to fit every lifestyle. We want to talk to you, because this is our zine, but once you read it, you decipher it in such a way that it is your zine too. Please enjoy the contents and explore the pages to follow with an open heart and mind. Take what you want from it, agree or disagree, but by the last turn of the page, we hope you will have more clarity in that which you believe.
