I bought my first DSLR- a Canon Rebel XTi- on December 2007, as bit of a consolation prize after the failure of a very serious relationship. (Why not, I thought?? No need to buy HIM a present that year for Christmas). It largely sat in my camera bag for the first two years, ignored and unused.

Then in May 2009, I stepped foot in the Badlands National Park, South Dakota. Two days later, I arrived at Yellowstone National Park. During that great roadtrip, I was so changed and hooked by that taste of wilderness that right then and there, I made it a goal to see every national park in the US in my lifetime. My photography really grew from that point on. Whenever I encountered something beautiful, I tried as hard as I could to bring back some of the beauty in a photograph.

I currently shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II. My favorite lens is the 17-40L, which usually does not leave my body when I'm out shooting landscapes. Because I live in New York City, one of the most compelling places in the world for street photography, I've been dabbling in that too. I usually use a 35mm1.4L or 135mm2L for those.
