Hello, my name is Markus Schieler. I was born in the Saarland and now I live in Bavaria, not too far from Munich. From 2004 to 2007 I lived for 3.5 years in the northern suburbs of Detroit, Michigan.

My main interest are railways, both the real thing and model railways. I am also a plastic kit modeller, mostly military vehicles in scale 1:35 and 1:72 and figures in all scales.

I also take photos of racing cars at the Nürburgring and of old cars. Recently I developed a liking for old farm tractors. Furthermore I photograph planes and old castles. A rather strange mixture of interests.

My equipment is not very profesional. i started with a caplio G3, which made horrible pictures and in 2004 I upgraded to a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5. I have digitalized the major part of my slides which I took in the days before digital photography, but their quality is so bad that I have not uploaded any of them to flickr.
