I am a molecular biologist turned bioinformatician (biology is nowadays a data driven science). I was born and raised in Colombia, and had the wonderful opportunity to travel around my country knowing its people, culture, and landscapes. Colombia is really a diverse country when it comes to... everything. Most of the photographs you see here are from Colombia, and were taken with my old trusty Nikon FE SLR in Velvia film, with no Photoshop whatsoever. Well... cropping maybe.
I am jumping to the DSLR wagon, hoping this technology would give me at least 80% of the results I used to get with Velvia.

I think the technology for social networking is really amazing, and it has the potential to change the very thread of our societies for good, bringing human groups closer to each other. Nobody 10 years ago would have envisioned what the internet has given us today in terms of sharing. I think it is a good step to get rid of our provincialism. The other one is traveling, of course.
