Over the years, I have acquired an enormous number of images captured by unknown photographers mostly on 35mm slides also some photographs and negatives. Images of places visited during travels and holidays, of people, of all manner of things. It seemed reasonable that instead of them being stored in boxes in a cupboard and effectively hidden from view they could be scanned for personal benefit and also be shared with anyone who might have an interest.
So, from time to time a random selection of scanned old images will be added here and where possible, a note to say where and when they were taken or who might be in the frame. There will be no set pattern to the content other than as they've come out of the boxes, there is no theme, some may be interesting many will not be, all will have been snapped by unknown photographers. The majority will be of poor photographic quality, most being dusty and dirty just as they have been found. Also, the location for the vast majority of images is unknown, so if anyone recognises a place and can offer suggestions as to where the snaps were taken that would be great.
The slides and 35mm negatives have been scanned using a Plustek OpticFilm 7200, but as I don't have experience of other slide/negative scanners, I'm only able to say that this scanner seems to do what I want it to. Also, the slides have been scanned in high resolution but for ease, uploaded to Flickr in low resolution. Old photo's will be scanned using whatever scanner is to hand, presently it's an Epson Perfection 2480 Photo.
Enjoy.
(I am always adding to my collection and would gratefully and gladly offer a good home to any old slides (or negatives) that would otherwise be thrown out).
