Following a major shoulder injury sustained in a fall onto rocks while photographing a waterfall I am temporarily unable to continue on Flickr. I can neither take photographs and have great difficulty even typing.

After years within amateur photography I'd allowed my interest to wane. But after I retired and with living in a different part of the world my enthusiasm returned. Along with the new (to me) digital cameras and computer editing programs it has been like starting all over again.

I began my new photo collection by using a Minolta Z3. After moving to the Sony Alpha a100 DSLR in 2007 I now have started to use a Sony a550.

I am increasingly using Aperture 3 to match the Macbook in touching up my images.

Equipment list:-

Sony Alpha a550 14.2 megapix DSLR
Sony DSC-W330 Cybershot
Minolta Z3 4.0 megapix (Point and shoot with 35-420mm zoom equiv.)
Sony DT18-55mm AF F3.5 - 5.6 zoom
Sony 75-300mm AF F4.5 - 5.6 zoom (with macro)
Sony 500mm AF F8 Reflex
Sony 100mm AF F2.8 Macro
Tamron-F AF 2x tele-converter.

"I don't know how I first found Alan's photostream, but he has been a great Flickr friend for almost two years now and I feel fortunate to have him as a contact. In addition to sharing his wonderful images from around the world and his fantastic nature photos, he provides regular feedback and supportive comments for his contacts. Thanks, Alan, for being one of those people who make Flickr such an enjoyable community."

    Kev Palmer says:

"One of my earliest flickr contacts; I would best describe Alan as a ‘photographers photographer’. His ability to capture high quality images straight into the camera with little or no post processing is truly inspiring and a wonderful talent to have, even more so when you consider some of his subject matter, in particular his nature photography. Thank you for being a good friend and contact Alan and thank you for all your help and support during my time on flickr."

"Deegs takes wonderful photos of a great range of subject. I especially like his travel and nature shots.
And he is brilliant enough to use a Sony alpha!
More importantly, he is a wonderful (and funny) contact."

"Alan Deegan is a true english gentleman. It's actually a wonder he hasn't been given a knighthood for his services in humanitarian friendliness and courtesy here at flickr! :))
Through the magic of Alan's photographic work, I've travelled to some wonderful places in the world. He's like having your very own tour guide and you don't have to leave home or pay for it!
But seriously, Alan has a great eye for detail which he expresses not only in his own photographs but in his comments as well.
I've learnt a lot from Alan - a wonderful mentor and a true flickr friend."

"If it wasn’t for deegs I doubt I would be as interested in photography as I am now, he has inspired me for many a year and keeps doing so now, even from the other side of the Atlantic. I had my first real camera off him (Practica Super TL3 SLR) and then he taught me to use it.

Flickr is a good way to see what he is up to and photographing, while he is jetting off all around the world.

I couldn’t wish for a better role model or father :o)

    Thanks Dad."
