Aleksei Saunders was born in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada. In 1996 he moved to the United States and now resides in Denver, Colorado with a very patient wife and three patience trying dogs.

His fine art images span a range of subjects from nature, urban, wildlife and landscape. Alex also enjoys photographing live music shows and local Denver events.

And yes - he misses the ocean terribly.

Alex owns and operates Tenuous Thread Photography in Denver, CO. With it he seeks to examine the tenuous connections that humans have with one another and to the world around them. Photography can be many things to many people – it may be a source of validation, of permanence, of immortality or of remembrance. It may be a declaration of love, of honor, of devotion or of grace.

On the most primal level Alex strives to achieve one of two goals with his photography: He seeks to bring joy – caused by a delightful scene, a pleasing form or shape, or a wonderful occurrence that lifts the heart and celebrates the fragile beauty of life

Alex also seeks to create images that provoke questions - questions about this tenuous thread that connects all living creatures with the world around them. Without these questions, and without periods lacking joy, we can never truly appreciate how fortunate we are in times of bliss.
