It has become a recent desire of mine to learn more about photography and build my skills. I want to move away from the "Auto" function and learn to take better pictures.

That said, any *constructive* criticisms, tips, hints, or opinions are welcome! Please keep in mind that I do not have a lot of funds to dedicate to photography. While recommendations to spend tons of money on certain pieces of equipment or software aren't reasonable, I would greatly appreciate affordable DIY suggestions!

My subjects are, more often than not, my two dogs. Gio and Romeo are both Shetland Sheepdogs, and my life essentially revolves around them. I train and participate in a number of dog activities (to varying degrees) including obedience, rally-o, flyball, agility, herding, tracking, and therapy dog work. I love dog training and I love competing with my dogs!
