A debutante in the game of self-sufficiency, I moved down to rural south-west France in March 2011 to make a go of it. Life certainly changes at 40, if it doesn't actually begin!

My partner Lou and I have moved into a barn that's part-converted, so we can live in it, but the rest needs some serious work (see pics!).

It's all been a bit Jean de Florette so far, with no rain since the end of March. I can hear Gerard on the old harmonica now...
