I was born and raised in the rural village of Milford, Michigan. Here, my chores included feeding the chickens. My favorite summer chore though, was mowing the grass. We had a riding mower and I had an ipod loaded with rock n’ roll. No one had to suffer my terrible renditions over the sounds of the mower. In high school, I had several friends start playing in rock bands, including my younger brother. Still being musically challenged I, the “art kid,” naturally became the tag along photographer and flyer maker. I was hooked.
In 2007, I moved to Chicago for photography school at Columbia College Chicago. In 2009, I was the proud barer of a Bachelor of Arts in Photography. After a short summer internship with Time Out Chicago, I began shooting freelance for the magazine.
Someday I hope to have a staff position with a local entertainment magazine. Maybe it was growing up in a small town, or maybe it was living in Rogers Park in Chicago but a feeling of community and local awareness is very important to me. I believe that having a reliable and wide spread source for local events coverage is a very important factor in people’s involvement in their community.
