I love taking pictures.

I have a BFA in painting and drawing along with a Masters in Visualization Sciences. I also have a traditional background in 35mm film photography. Back in the 80s and 90s, all I shot with were a Contax and Zeiss 50mm lens.

Currently work as a 3d animator at Dreamworks under the hair and cloth team with credits under several major feature film releases.

Also have a love for painting and its context in art history, so it influences me greatly on how a picture is taken.

Am a big fan of Henri Cartier-Bresson, and what he calls capturing the "decisive moment". His work is a constant inspiration for me. His photographs are absolutely incredible, considering all he had was an old school manual focus rangefinder leica with 50mm lens.

Light, color, and most importantly -- composition --- are the most important things I look for when taking a pic. I prefer shooting handheld in natural light with no flash.

Equipment and gear are important, yes - but it is the photographer that makes the shot, not the camera.

Many self-proclaimed photographers out on the internet today do not realize this and depend too much on their gear and software rather than understanding the basic elements and principles of design to achieve harmony in composition and color. An artist's style develops organically through lots and lots of practice, critique, and discipline - not just through blindly memorizing steps, tutorials, tricks, techniques, or cheezy filters.

However, I do appreciate how easy photography has become for the newcomer since it has turned digital.
