His home base doesn’t have the diversity of location and people that other photographers have in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington and New York with national and state parks whose seasonal changes provide many opportunities.

The combination of his consistently strong visual quality, his dead on mastery of composition and light, and his sense of compassion, of humor, and of irony are what separate him from everyone else in our digital realm. The consistency of his vision is to me inspirational. It's one thing to hit the jackpot once in awhile with a strong image, another to hit it time after time after time. In our digital era getting to see good black and white photography becomes more and more rare. Kurt's black and white images are stellar. Although he works less frequently in color, his color work is also very strong. What I love most about his work, though, are his compositions.
