I have been interested in photography for many years but with greatly varying levels of intensity, starting as a teenager developing my own 127 B&W film and doing (rather small) contact prints in a basement darkroom. I progressed through other cameras, including a brief fling with Polaroid (she was very spontaneous, but faded quickly). I have a 28 year old Pentax MX with an assortment of lenses that has been my mainstay for many years and hope to get a film scanner to convert a large slide and negative collection.

However, it is digital photography and flickr that have really rekindled my interest in photography and made me appreciate what a large and diverse collection of photographers there are out there in the flickrverse. Viewing the works of others has given me a strong desire to "improve my game" and take more than the usual - to experiment, take chances, to be subjected to both criticism and praise. But be careful with the criticism, I'm armed and dangerous:



On the personal front, I am a non-practicing physician with additional training in epidemiology who works in a health department on a rather diverse range of projects. I am self taught in a large number of computer programs including databases. I have additional skills like (X)HTML and CSS for web design and actually administer/moderate a couple of online forums.

My wife (tag ccpoulin) posts some of her pictures on this stream and to my chagrin they sometimes are more popular than my own.
