I've always liked photography, but since digital came of age my interest has expanded exponentially! I gave up bulky film SLRs with bags of kit for Fuji superzooms and love my S100fs and F70EXR. I edit my photos with PaintShop Pro and tend to exaggerate the existing atmosphere of the chosen location using curves and a little more saturation.

I live in the small village of Cilcan in North Wales, just west of Chester and having retired from being Principal Trading Standards Officer for Flintshire County, I run a small web design business from home.

I love travel, walking in the splendid countryside around where I live, good food (I cook and like vegetarian food), good wine (favorites come from South America) keeping reasonably fit and the village pub!

I found the "countries I've visited" feature and had some fun remembering them all. Still plenty left, just wish I'd got serious about photography earlier!

Like any piece of art, photography is a subjective matter. I welcome constructive criticism of my photos. How else will I improve?

"I feel guilty about not commenting on Phil's photos more often; constraints of time I suppose. But then I find making comments on his photos rather difficult - they are, after all, jaw-droppingly stunning. His eye for composition is second to none, colours look so real and vibrant and the presentation is always supremely professional. If you haven't looked at his photostream yet then do so - you won't be disappointed, more likely you'll be inspired."
