I've been a big fan of photography since 2005, when I bought a Canon Digital Rebel. I was 47 years old at the time, and I started buying books and magazines and whenever I could got out to shoot. I live and work in Los Angeles, just a mile from the coast, so when I see a nice sunset I head for the beach. My favorite beaches are Manhattan Beach and Venice Beach with nice piers, waves and surfers.

I am a computer scientist by day, and enjoy working with computers. I learned Photoshop a few years ago and really love HDR photography. Now I almost always shoot bracketed shots for HDR. I love church interiors, and I will sneak a tripod into every church I can.

I own a Canon 30D, and several lenses. My favorite by far is the 10-22, which is on my camera all the time. I also enjoy the 100-400, I don't use it often, but for shooting animals and surfers there's no other way.

My biggest challenge is to improve my artistic skills. I am quite nerdy and I understand all the technical aspects of shooting and digital processing. Learning to see is harder. For me, the best place to do it is on flickr. I have wonderful contacts, and over the years we've all grown together. I have learned a lot from them and look forward to their photos all the time.
