Photography is something that has been a big part of my life since I was 5 years old. I bought a Kodak Brownie box camera at a thrift store for .75 cents, that was the start. Later I bought a Kodak 620 Monitor that I used for years. I was 12 years old when I learned to develop and print my own work.

I love all history and the roll that photography has played in recording the ephemeral nature of what was largely lost to time. I’ve had many influences and teachers over the years. I moved to 35mm in 1975 and joined the “darkside” digital in 2003. Spending about 10 years as a custom lab printer and all around lab rat I have some knowledge of the arcane chemical alchemy that was photography. Since I am picky about how my photos are printed. I am happy that we all can scan and with the help of Photoshop share our photos with the World. So far I have only started to get into the archives and the archives are deep. Every road trip I have gone on in the last 30 years. The main thing I did was document the journey. I do believe the journey is the thing. I hope to share my passion for photography the discovery of place with anyone who might be interested.

I do consider myself a working photographer and have always done things differently than the standard. I earned my living doing many things other than photography. Most pro-photographers shoot stock or personal photos while on assignment. All of my photos are personal. I have shot weddings and portraits as favors for friends. I hope that you like the photographs and the stories from my life’s journey’s. I have started to share the 34,000 and counting photographs. If you like my photographs please buy them, it will not offend me. I am glad to accept help and or opinions, drop me a line. I’m friendly and like to talk.

Collecting photos has also been a passion for years. Our family photos for the most part have ended up at our house. Some of the family were photographers in the late 1800s. Some were in early Hollywood silent films and stage productions. I'll post some of these also, I hope you enjoy them.

Flickr is a important tool for all of us who love photography to meet and share with others of our ilk. Let's keep our happy shutters clicking away.
