Retired from teaching 38 years in public schools, I read, write, compose music, cook lots of soups, and have, in the last 3 years, taken up photography. I am 70 years old (as of Sep 2011) and find that life is good. I have numerous "kids" who are the joy and blessings of my life.
Not by nature a visual person, I've discovered that photography has opened up the sense of sight. The world has more depth and color than it used to. It's still a delight to see familiar sights for the "first time". I hope viewers can take away something pleasurable from looking at my photos. All I've known digitally is a point and shoot camera; I have no tripod, use mostly automatic settings, and employ Picasa as my processing program--definitely not an elaborate setup.
I'd appreciate if you did not promote your photostream (Flickriver, etc) in your comments.

Almost all my photos are free under these conditions; however, I've retained full rights for most of those with people. Check carefully. If you do use a photo, it would be nice to know about it.
