About me.

I was born and raised in the Aussie 'bush'. I've lived and made images in many countries, 'but I still call Australia home'. I started making images when I was ~ 8 years old, with a family Kodak Box Brownie. From memory, I was 9 or 10 (not yet in high school) when I made my first contact prints from 6x9 negatives. One of my school pals could use his Dad's home 'darkroom'/bathroom. (Ummm, that means my first darkroom work was +/- 55 years ago. Sigh...)

I use film a lot - everyday or so - and develop all types at home - BW, C41, and (rarely) E6 . I'm also interested in various alternate processes, including palladium, bromoil etc.. Although I still have a darkroom facility, most of my printing now is via a scanner to a digital printer. Less brown on the fingernails, and fewer headaches. However, many alternate processes still require a darkroom. I shoot all formats from 110 sub miniature to 4x5. Mainly, my everyday shooting is 6x6 or 35mm. Truth is, I mostly use my HB or M3 for 90% of the images that I am serious about. I 'play' with everything else. :-)

Also, it is a "sad" fact that I have a severe case of cameracollectivitis. ;-)

Of course, over my lifetime, I have used and then kept quite a few cameras. Others I have (ahem) gathered.

"I have been following Colin Clarke's work for years now and I have learned a great deal from him in the process. Not only is he a great photographer, he's also very supportive of others and I have really appreciated the feedback I have gotten from him over the last few years (starting on pbase.com and now here on flickr). I love the variety of images Colin creates and the obvious sense of fun he seems to have had in creating them. He keeps experimenting and sharing his results. What you get when looking at his stream is a rich experience of the best that the medium of photography has to offer. There is a lot to be learned here and anyone who sticks around will have a lot of fun in the process."
