I am an amateur photographer. Somebody may disagree, I know, because I have Master's degree (MSocSc), specialized in photo-journalism, did half of my Master's studies at University of Industrial Arts Helsinki (today this school is named Aalto University School of Art and Design, if you happen to be Finnish you'll understand right away when I say Taikki), I have been teaching digital imaging at Lahti Institute of Design. And then, I have worked over ten years as picture editor at News Graphics Department of YLE Uutiset (Finnish equivalent to BBC News). There are few quite good points to question my amateurism.

But I still want to keep the mentality. I want to shoot what I like, how I like and also when I like, although the last does not always come true very well. I put my work available and I'm happy when somebody find it suitable for his/her needs and wants to use it. But I don't like very much the way the professional photographer has to work today.

This doesn't mean that I'm not interested in co-operation. But I like to work with ideas and themes in longer periods, not just shoot certain objects with certain standards. Simple assignment work - probably not very interested. Documentary projects - yes, I'm interested. I still have full-time job as a picture editor, so there are limits how much I can take other projects and do my own photographic work.

I have about 150 photos here in flickr, organized in about half dozen sets. That's the volume I'll keep in future too. Main place to exhibit my work is site called October 22, there is also possibility to license images for use.
