"While the sentiments below stil hold more than true, I feel a tiny update is in order. Having spent a little / far too little time with Lorrie in the 3D fleshy world, I will now add that the vibrant personality, openness, sensitivity and verve of her art is matched easily and more by the person.
The original birdw0rds:
I have no doubt at all that I share at least part of her vision of the world. While she is undoubtedly in a league above me regarding technique & technical ability, I can’t help feel that there’s a slice of her photographic mind that resonates and is a discrete but bright light in my own. Lorrie is one of those photographers that creeps into the back door of your head. I often find that there’s an element of mcartist11 that may not exactly be a voice, but is certainly guiding my hand and eye when I’m out taking my own photos. I.e. through exposure to her work and her eye, I’ve internalised a part of her that I am convinced has improved my own photography. For this I am unreservedly grateful. Just the intrinsic value of her magical & varied images is enough, but to benefit in this way and to learn so much from her is rather cool, don’t you think?"28th November, 2008

"I stumbled across Lorrie McClanahan's photographs by accident and was immediately struck by the simplicity and clarity of her vision. Over the next few months I came to appreciate how deeply Lorrie's work is grounded in form and color. She has the rare quality of being able to look at the mundane and see something absolutely beautiful. Her photographs astonish; they seduce the eye and captivate the mind.
I'd like to spend a week behind Lorrie McClanahan's eyes."6th July, 2005

"Lorrie is a very versatile photographer, capturing anything from landscapes, close-ups, still life and lifestyles. Her photographs, largely comprising of vibrant and radiant shades and tones of colour, show her skill of Photoshop, where she brilliantly tunes the photos to perfection. As an artist myself, I feel that she skillfully incorporates her talent into the photography art form. Her portfolio enlists her as one of the pioneers on Flickr."

"There are few people I'm in awe of when it comes to their artistic talent. Lorrie is one of them. Every single time I think to myself "she can't ever post anything better than this..." she makes a liar out of me but in this case I'm happy to be proven wrong.
Her photography skills are second to none and her photoshop skills are.. well.. in class by themselves.
I hope she keeps sharing her unique vision of the world around her (and the one in her mind) because I know I've learned so much from watching the wonderful work she does.
Thank you!"6th June, 2005

"Lorrie never fails to surprise and delight me with the shots she makes. I've seen her write "I'm not a photographer"; but one look at the photos she's made will show that she could be."

Kalense Kid says:
"I would love to meet Lorrie in person. Here on Flickr she radiates, not only with her kind, insightful and constructive comments on other people’s work, but also and especially in her art. Her work is multi-layered and mysterious. She manages to pack a huge amount of emotion into her creations – here is someone who understands relationships and has had her share of pain. Lorrie cares about other people and shows it. She is a true artist, and her art is always beautiful and inspiring. I have learned a great deal by carefully studying what she displays here in Flickr. Thank you mcartist11!"

"Wow, what to say? This was one of the first folio's I visited when joining the flick and from then on I was immediately addicted to Lorrie's photography. Referring back to this is like walking through a metaphysical interior of pleasure. The creative control and eye of this woman is beyond fascinating as if every upload is a religious experience. Her endless creative themes of simplifying forms to the more dramatic conflictuations have been influential. If there was a soul that was yearning for the spirit of art, then this would be the place to fulfill that need. Did I mention her wicked personality and kindness? Like a prudence thrown to the wind, she holds nothing back."

Her artistic eye for a good photograph is what keeps me frequenting her photostream. An amazing artist she is!"11th March, 2005

Terri Lynn says:
""Artist" is an intangible, difficult to define. Is it creativity, sensitivity, an eye for detail? Is it the childlike awe of investigation that makes you want to capture that lighting-bug in a jar and never forget the wonder of it lighting up on a dark summer night. Is it the intuitive use of subtlety in imagery that will spark and challenge the imagination of others? Yes, it's really hard to pin down a definition, but Lorrie certainly fits the bill!"
