About the IMLS DCC

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Digital Collections and Content (DCC) brings together IMLS-funded digital collections of photos and other media from libraries, museums, and archives across the United States. Our photostream highlights historical photos from a variety of our collections, and we regularly add new photos to grow and enrich our photostream. We could use your help to expand our knowledge about these important images of America's cultural heritage. If you know more about the people or places in these photographs, please help us by adding that information. Please tag and comment freely!

IMLS DCC is based at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and Grainger Engineering Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The IMLS DCC Flickr photostream (http://www.flickr.com/people/imlsdcc/) seeks to discover how users interact with DCC content on Flickr, as part of the DCC project's overarching goal of investigating the development of highly useful, meaningful, and usable digital collections. Driven by this research motive, the DCC project relies on Flickr's statistics module to measure use of our photostream. We record statistical information about aggregate views of IMLS DCC photos; about referrers to and from our photostream and website; and about Flickr users' comments, Favorites, and tags. We also keep track of our Contacts and Friends. The DCC project does not release personally identifiable information about users who visit or contact the DCC Flickr photostream. Any IP addresses or Flickr identity information that is collected in the course of DCC research will be purged from our records within 1 year of the end of the Flickr Feasibility Study.
