All pictures in this photostream so far are shot for and during research for the cross-media documentary film project THE AMERICAN BACKROOM.

THE AMERICAN BACKROOM is a new and unique documentary film project in digital 3D with additional online content. An essay about the myth of the last surviving global power, miles away from contemporary pop culture and clichéd imagery. It is the portrait of a nation illustrated by a variety of fragments from everyday life, granting us an intimate look into the American backroom, into fringe areas, small towns, backyards and industrial districts. The project is currently in the development and financing stage.

We have just finished a two month/13,000 mile long research road trip across and back the United States - collecting pictures, meeting people of all walks of life, listening to stories and trying to get a glimpse into life as it is in the country we all pretend to know everything about. We met people way off the road or in places that normally don't get any media attention. We asked questions to learn more about their hopes and desires, their fears and dreams, about favorite meals, travels and their past and current love.
